Hey Chris, Klaus sent me a pm on the 19th and said that he would be gone until the 2nd of may. i called Odyssey earlier this week and talked to Michael who is an Odyssey employee and he said Alex would be in the shop sometime today. Alex would probably know the status of your "special order extreme monoblocks"as he is probably performing the work on them. thanks....WCW III

I spoke with Klaus yesterday afternoon, and I found him to be a refreshing voice in a world of hyped up products. Felt totally comfortable, and we seem to speak the same language in the quest for sound. We'll be doing business again I can assure you.
I ordered the new tube preamp, and set up a schedule to do a complete (and major) upgrade to my Stratos Monoblocs. Basicly when I turn the power on I will have new amps and a new preamp to wake up the dead <g>. The only downside to this was the lack of a tape loop in the preamp, and looks like my upstairs system is going thru growing pains again!  Lastly, Klaus offerd me the chance to listen to his speakers in my living room (as it should be). No one has ever offered me anything like this (with one exception).

it is obvious that Klaus is the man! i have bought Odyssey gear and Symphonic line gear from him. and i have spent countless hours talking to him about Audio, Politics, world history, Family matters and life in general and i count him as a very good friend and one Hell of a great human being. if Klaus says something you can take it to the bank. what type of upgrades are you doing to your Monoblocks ? extreme SE Mods perhaps ?thanks....WCW III

From what I gather these mods will completely gut the two amps, and they only thing reused will be the cases themselves. The power supplies
will be increased to 360,000mf. We are going with new circut boards, transformers (if I remember right). These amps ought to be strong enough to arc weld with ! One last thing I didn't mention was the cables. I have these really, really long Gronnenberg speaker cables that came with the amps. We're going to make them much shorter and build a new pair of interconnects out of what's left. In our conversations we left few stones unturned in the quest for sound. I might add that Klaus had to laugh when I told him the story of my old amp stands. These mono blocks were bigger than the stands themselves! So I picked up a pair of Zethocuss(sp)
stands that looked strong enough to put an iron head race hemi ontop of.
I'd  guess that sometime in late summer we'll be shaking the plaster off the walls with Ray Brown's bass.

Hello, I spoke with Klaus on Friday evening - he'll be out until early June.

I just ordered the Odyssey Stratos Extreme amp & Tempest preamp (w/remote) combo for 2 channels yesterday, delivery should be about 6/20/2006. I paid about 3 grand for both as a combo, & Klaus was real helpful in making my order go through... I know some German & we talked about other things besides the combo as well... ;)

My amp I'm replacing is a NAD C370 @ 120 wpc (a nice amp in itself). This will power the Klipsch RF-7 references for 2.1 (along w/a custom 15" Tempest Signature subwoofer). My CD/DVD player is an old model Toshiba SD9200 refurbised unit I got for a "steal". No surround (yet), my current room is a bit small (13x24) to fit everything - it's my main playroom.

The amp is 150 watts/channel with a massive 180,000 uF capacitance with "power reserve for bass" & heavily biased into Class A operation. This would make an excellent reference musical amp.

That's the amp I have and it exceeded my expectations. Be careful though because you'll start thinking monoblocks in a few months  :D . Mine should happen in July. Where I'll find room for two of these beasts is another question!

well I just took my mono extremes out of the box a couple hours ago, and they just barely fit in the amp stands! What I saw was a fit and finish to die for. They even have a plate on the back with my name on them!
My brother inlaw dropped by right after I got them out of the boxes, and now I think he's got the upgrade bug! Wanted to know what kind of amp I was playing music on at the time (Sonic Frontiers amp with a Quicksilver preamp being fed via a Marantz 8620 sacd player playing Monk's Strait No Chaser). He's really interested in those big monos, and have a feeling he wants a pair. Told him I'd yell at him when I got about three hundred hours on them for a listen. I was impressed with my old monos, but nothing like these. One last thing if you get a pair, buy a back brace first!
These things ain't light!

Klaus should include a truss as an accessory with the Stratos
