Just get Gregg Straley's cable for basically the same price.

Agree with George.  As a Soldier I can tell you most mil-spec stuff is CRAP.  One can usually buy superior equipment on the commercial market for less than the military would charge you if you lost what they issued you.  (I'm not just talking audio here, I mean any kind of part or equipment the military uses.)  There are some exceptions, but that leads me to the thought that we don't use "soncially superior" anything in our communications systems, be they LOS, satellite, or whatever.  Referring to the previous "mil spec" ad that claimed the cables are built to extraordinary standards, that *may* be true - but the standards to which they are built have nothing to do with the sound of the wire or its application in an audiophile sound system.

In my system, Gregg's cables replaced another well-known and high-value brand of cables that cost at half the price of the former cables.  Gregg is a nice guy, and will talk candidly with you about cables.
