Our own John del Carlo scored 5 curtain calls and a standing ovation from the sold-out Metropolitan Opera for his great performance of "Don Pasquale" Tuesday nite.  Subsequently John and his agent Carolyn, my wife and I celebrated into the wee hours at a local pub where only curfew forced us out!

The Met has rewarded John's 13 years of service there with all 12 performances of Dr Bartolo in "Barber of Seville" during the 2006/2007 season, which makes John that renowned house's premier basso buffo, a worthy successor to Baccaloni, Corena, and Bacquier.

Hello to all......Brian and Shirley,  it was a pleasure to see you both in NYC!!   :!: We did have fun at the pub.....and I am so glad you enjoyed the performance. It was a thrill and an honor for me to do this particular role, especially at the Met, where I am following in the footsteps and trying to fill the shoes of some of the great singers of our time.  I was particularly moved by the audience response taking my final curtain call......5 times...hmmm...I must have miscounted
Seriously though, I was very moved and humbled by it.

All in all a great experience and it was good to have Brian and Shirley there to enjoy it along with the audience!

Happy listening everyone~~~   :D

Congratualtions John,

Perhaps if my daughter (who is attending Pratt School of Design) was going to be there over longer than 2 weeks, I would trip out to the east coast.

But, summer vacation is coming and I am not.

Good luck in your role.  I look forward to hearing more glowing reports. :D

Thanks John. Perhaps in the future for the Barber.  I know the Cheney's will be coming out to NYC at some point for it, maybe you can come out here together and make it a group trip!

Big B.......11? :?: :?:....I was leaning in the other direction

Happy Listening,
