Changing power from US standard to CE standard ?
« on: 10 Apr 2006, 08:17 pm »
Hi again,

I'm looking for a used Brystonamp, and knowing that there is more 2nd hand amps in US/Canada than in Europe (where I live), I wonder how hard it is to change from US standard to Europe standard, 110v/60Hz to 230v/50Hz ? Will it affect warrant ? Any ideas and thoughts are welcome :-)

Some time ago I called up Bryston in Canada, the rep told me that as long as the modification is done by Bryston authorized dealer/service center, then your warranty should be ok.

Hi,

The distributor in the country that the amplifier is going to would be in charge of changing over the electrical requirements ( they know the codes and safety issues).  They would also re-register the warranty in the new voltage with Bryston.

If no distributor then one of our other European distributors would be qualified to do it.

Okay, the Conclusion is: Don't import a Bryston unit with different voltage, since you may end up with a not qulified warrent since there is no rep in my country....
