These have been around for a while.  I think that for a while Jeep included one with a special edition jeep   , but I like your idea of modding one

What is the "Bosch Sound" feature?  Periodic impact wrench and power tool noises coming through the speakers?  Occasional advertisements for same?

This was just supposed to be a joke. Although I think it would be interesting if someone tried to trick it out as much as possible. It may not be worth tricking out too much as it would be used at a noisy construction site; but its durability might be great for teenagers or people who have workshops and a dedicated rig in their dwelling.

THERE IS NO JOKING WHEN IT COMES TO AUDIO EQUIPMENT  :nono:

There were some ads for this, or one like it that  showed it being dropped off of a truck and bouncing, of course playing smoothly the whole time even though the speakers were moving all over the place as it bounced.

Always wondered how they did that, perhaps they used a sound track and not a real recording of the sound from the unit

Just another cosmetic appearance to try and grasp a different croud. Have you seen the way some of today's "boom-boxes" look! Lots of gaudy plastic.

I see more and more of these on construction sites.  As you'd guess, they produce a very loud and obnoxious sound.

I was thinking of the aluminum roll bar mod for my amp. I hope they don't have a patent on it.

That's not true!  Just the other day I saw some guys busting up concrete and some other guys running a router and they were commenting (shouting) to each other on the breadth of the soundstage and the lush midrange smoothness offered by the "Bosch Sound" mode of the radio.  Although it is sometimes difficult to maintain a good sweet spot when nailing shingles on a hot roof, the off-axis frequency response makes this compromised listening position much more bearable.  Many carpenters find that a maple isolation platform under the radio helps the otherwise unpleasant jitter artifacts incurred when running a circular saw at the same time.
