I had some time last night so I finished up the wiring on  my "half-kit" Hagerman Bugle phono preamp and power supply.

The circuit boards for the preamp and the power supply are $25.00 each.

http://www.hagtech.com/bugle.html

They come with a very nice manual that includes all the part numbers for the parts you need to order from Digi-Key.

I decided to use Dale/Vishay 1/8 watt resistors and I upped the capacitor values for the power supply. I also used matched WIMA caps in the phono section.

The power cable is a NITRO hard wired to the PS board. I used NITRO interconnect cable for input and ouput to the phono section. I also installed a pair of Bybee purifiers on the inputs to the board :D

It worked just fine the first time I powered it up. I also bought Mr. Hagerman's inverse RIAA filter http://www.hagtech.com/iriaa.html and I am using that with the output from my DI/O to break the preamp in.

I took a very quick listen to it when I first powered it on through a used MMF-5 I recently picked up. It is VERY dynamic already. It does need break-in time, but I am VERY pleased with the sound for a just built piece.

Now I need to work on the MMF-5, doing the tweaks Mike Galusha has written about and I HAVE to do something about the power cable and interconnects that come with it

Wayne,

Are you going to be offering the Hagtech product as a "Bolderized" kit or complete product?
I'd be interested in it - and the MMF5 changes you make.

At this point, it is a fun project for my own use.

If there is interest in it and Mr. Hagerman approves, maybe

How about making one for your old buddy Brad in Houston then?

I'm going to need to get a decent phono stage to use with the Sony Avd-C70ES.

Come on Brad,

You KNOW you want some more tubes!!

The Cornet really looks like another fun project.

I MIGHT be willing to build that one for you, for a goodly amount of cash-ola

I'm going to try to be good and live with the Sony as both HT and 2 channel for a year or two.

I would be interested in an M80 style Bugle kit to use with my MMF-5.
Looking at the hagtech page, the Cornet IS pretty interesting.  $300 or less for d.i.y. :)

Any details on the changes Mike made to the MMF-5?
