I just picked up a used  larger sub and I'm wondering how does one know if it has mega woofers.
Thanks, John

Look at the 12" woofer cone.  If it looks like a "woven" material then it is Woven Carbon Fiber and likely a Megawoofer.

The 15" is "not woven" but smooth, but if the 12" is WCF, then it is likely that you have "Megas".

If the 12" has smooth cone, then you have the stock drivers.

Thanks John, what do the megawoofers do better than the stock drivers and what do they cost?
Thanks again,
John

The MegaWoofers have:

Lighter cone material
Stiffer cone material
Larger, Stronger, Heavier, Magnet and Motor

Lighter cones mean the driver is more "quick" to respond to the signal

Stiffer cones will push and pull the air with less distortion of the cone and less distortion to the wave formation and launch

Larger magnet/motor means that more power and grip is exerted on the cone, again making it faster to respond with less sluggishness and distortion.  It also improves (increases) power handling, making it more effective and efficient at handling more power.

All this adds up to a stronger, deeper, cleaner, controlled bass wave.
