Mineral fiber batts
« on: 31 Mar 2006, 10:38 pm »
I have just come into possession of some 3" ROXUL AFB mineral fiber acoustical batts. How could I use these to improve the acoustical environment of my sheet rocked room. Is this type of material better suited for treble or bass attenuation? Would this be suitable for corner traps, first points of reflection or whatever? The ceiling is low (7'-6") so what could I use without restricting headroom too much?

Thank you,

Raja

Do you know the density?  Just throw a couple batts of it on the scale.

If it's 3lb/cu ft or less it will work fine for either bass or reflecitons.  If it's heavier, it would be better suited doubled up for bass absorber duty.
