Stillpoints ERS EMI/RF blocking/diffusing sheets and tapes

The new I2S cable will use one of two constructions:

1) silver-plated copper multiple twisted-pairs with Teflon insulation or
2) Pure Perfect Crystal Silver twisted-pairs with Teflon or expanded Teflon insulation

I believe that the PC wire will be overkill in this application, but I will try both versions on the P1/P3. The most important aspect is to match the 100 ohm impedance.

I will have the cable ready by the end of the month.

Well, I finally cut up some of these sheets (only after ordering a couple more) and completely surrounded all 5 of my speaker terminals with a 1/2" strip of the self-adhesive ERS.(A real pain to get that backing off btw) WOW, this stuff makes about as big an impact as the Bybee speaker filters did! Things got real crystal clear all of a sudden. Maybe even a little bright, which I like. This stuff is powerful, a little is a lot, a 1'4" strip would have been better maybe. Oh well, what`s done is done as this adhesive is bad-ass sh*t and to try to take it off would certainly ruin the fragile paper. I`m thinking maybe tearing into my BP2.5 and lining the inside with ERS. I can`t see where lining the outside would accomplish anything other than make the unit crappy looking. In fact any component would look crappy with this stuff stuck on it. It`s gonna take allot of time and work to line all my components with ERS. ~LMAO~ Gee,I`m sorry if I got this thread back on topic,,,:nono: Regards, Robin

Is this stuff similar to Mu-metal? I have a couple of pieces of mumetal lying around that I just started experimenting with.
I'd like to wrap a power cord that's inside my DAC as well as put some around my transformers... and thought this stuff may be a little easier to work with.

So far I haven't heard much of a difference with the mu-metal so, I don't want to waste time and $ if this is the same kind of thing.

So you must use banana plugs then for speaker wire termination huh? Or am I misunderstanding how you used it?

Yep, you misunderstoodme. BTW, I use pins. And the strips were place ON my speakers surrounding the terminals themselves. I would never place this stuff directly on the speaker wires. Regards, Robin

Carl, I`ve never heard of this Mu-metal, but from what I`ve read, this is for magnetic fields. ERS is a whole different ball of wax as it deals with RFI. I like this stuff so much that I`ve sunk over $120 on 4 adhesive-backed sheets.I plan on taking the cover offmy BPT and lining the walls plus the Bybee filters with ERS. I`ll also cut strips up and do my satellite and A/V receiver covers, being careful not to cover the ventilation vents. ERS is the real deal, for me anyways. YMMV, lol. Regards, Robin

Any chance you got pictures? Do you mean you've surrounded the inside of the terminal cup? Is it around the cup on the outside like a bullseye type fashion?

Benefit was quieter noise floor? Thanks! Let me know how things go on the sat receiver and other pieces!!

Why bother with treating individual components? Why not line your listening room walls with mumetal or these sheets? Then everything will be shielded! An added bonus is that you will be able to write top secret messages without fear of the CIA monitoring the electromagnetic radiation from your computer at a distance.

Nope, haven't seen that movie. A friend of mine was talking about encryption or something awhile back and he mentioned some kind of device that could capture the keystrokes you type remotely. Not sure how it worked exactly. That and he mentioned mumetal being used to isolate video monitors from large magnetic fields.

Byteme, it`s a bullseye encircling the terminal, about 1/2" from the wires. It seems that ERS either absorbs or disappates RF & EM but I think that the closer you get to the problem spot, the less of this stuff you need. But it`s effects are obvious, even for Nathan to notice,,, maybe?

There`s allot of manufactures using ERS so that in itself aught to tell ya something. If a sheet of ERS placed on the shelf underneath my satellite receiver has the effects of a brighter picture and clearer highs on digital, then I should get the same results with LESS inside the metal casing. Byteme, like I just stated, ERS reacts allot like Bybee purifiers to me. I can understand why Jack Bybee is wrapping his Quantum Purifiers with ERS as they complement each other with clearer, sharper highs. OK, I`m done almost! Regards, Robin

Ya, especially the ones who keep forcing the new Metallica down our throats! Unfortunately those aren't the same towers that push the top 40 trash out so it'll take two powder kegs!
