Tested my dual SW12/PR12 last night WOW

It seems like I have been working on this box forever, but finally I tested it last night. This thing is awesome. I played the War Of the Worlds scene where the first alien ship comes out of the ground, and it was awesome. When the earthquake happens and the machine zaps people with the lightening, the whole room shakes.
Now I just have to finish it and put the foam on the walls. If you are thinking about building one of these, stop thinking and do it, you won't regret it. I used 2 subs and prs and the apex sr. amp with the 47k mod. Here is a pic of the sub in it's current unfinished state next to one of my mains.

That looks really awesome. I have been debating dual vs. single SW, and I just can't make up my mind. And it's critical to consider the WAF issue here. What are your overall dimensions? I'm assuming your box is about twice as high as the SW plans on the GR website?

Sorry for the late reply, my overall dimensions are 35.5 x 18.5 x 19.25. It has a subenclosure on the back for the amplifier and some bracing. Originally I designed it as 35.5 x18.5 x18.5, but I decided to double up the MDF on the PR side, I originally had only one layer of .75" on it.
I started with 2 cubes then adjusted the dimensions to get it roughly 3 feet high. I used UGS NX to design the box to have the correct volume, and I ran some modal analysis on it. The first mode was at 290 hz for the design, so I figured that would work.
After using it for a few days, it is great. I think I am going to finish it in all flat black (the same paint that is on the speaker next to it). I am finding it a little distracting when I watch movies, and if I paint it flat black, it should just dissapear.

I wanted to use 2 boxes, but I want to use a BFD to equalise, and if I had 2 subs that would mean using an amp for each to equalize them separately, so I decided to keep the cost down. The downside is that I now have a 140 lb speaker that I can't move by myself unless I take it apart. I can slide it on the mo-pads, but it is still kind of scary and slow.

140 pounds, huh? I hadn't thought it would be quite that heavy. That is certainly a variable to consider when planning a project like this. Does it get top-heavy with that PR so high above the ground?

It isn't top heavy, the weight is pretty evenly distributed since I have a PR/Speaker in the top and bottom and the amp is on the side opposite the PR's in the middle. It is just a bear to move.
