It sounds mighty good!!
Got the SLA batteries today, Panasonics from Digikey, $18 each. The only issue I have now is a faint buzz in one channel, touching C10 kills it so I guess the cap isn't well grounded(?).
Anyway, subjectively the sound is improved a bit from 9V alkalines... but then again I ran those dead so the poor Bugle probably didn't sound its' best the last 1/2 hr or so.
Couple of pics. I know, I should've just used thin magnet wire... I'm not used to working with DC!
