I am thingking of adding two more accoustic panels . Currently, i have two panels at first reflection point (my room is 12x14).  My question is whether i should place the second panel in the exact location where i can see speaker (using mirror method)?  Right now , at the second reflection point is between the door and the door frame. Therefore i can't hang it, but i have to move the panel to left. This means i won't be able to see the speaker tweeter at seating position.  Any idea or suggestion would be greatly appreciated.

thanks.

My room is the same as yours (9 foot ceiling) - this is what I've done - sounds pretty good - not dead and bass is real good.  The floor is carpeted.

Since I don't have a door at my reflection points I do have a panel there.  Not sure what you can do.  I'm sure the experts will chime in  :)

Thanks, tdangelo. Great room.

I  also have bass trap (2x4x4") at all corners. The bass is good. I tried to placed two accoustic panels in the fron wall  (behind the speaker) . Its sound is more defined,. THen i moved these to the side-wall, the sound is cleaner but a bit dead to me.

Since i don't  have option, i may play around with it until i am satisfied. I also hade wedge foam so i can try.

You actually have a side wall reflection point for each speaker for each seat on each wall.

For instance, if you have 3 seats and 2 speakers, there are 6 points on the left wall and 6 more on the right.  There are also 6 on the ceiling.

Unless the speakers are pretty close together and you only have 1 seat, it's very unlikely that 1 panel on each wall will catch all of the points.

If you have a door in the way, make some nice movable panels that can move into position for serious listening and be moved out of the way for less important things like trips to the bathroom, getting a beer, etc.

bpape, great idea , thanks.

my speakers are 9 feet apart and there is only one chair in the listening position ( my world, you know...:)  ).  By  using mirror rule, the second panel on one side will be betweern the door frame and the wall.

I don't think i can hang another panel up on ceiling since there are track lights in the way. May be two more pannels behind listening position will help?

thanks.

Panels on the rear might help.  Some people like that sound some don't.  For 2 channel, personally, I don't.  What does make a nice difference in smoothing the bass response is to build a membrane absorber or a faced broadband bass absorber on the rear wall in the center - behind your listening position.

That helps cancel what is generally one of the most harmful modes in the room - the one based on the distance from your ears to the rear wall and how it interacts to the sound coming off the front wall (hemispherical radiation pattern in the bass) and cancelling it out at your ear.
