Looks nice, George! You aren't worried about the left speaker being that close to the staircase?

An unusual or non-standard layout doesn't automatically create problems.
My room is somewhat similar in that I too have a staircase on the left side.
http://www.audiocircle.com/index.php?action=gallery;area=browse;album=695My staircase is in front of the baffle while George's is behind. As another poster said, it can actually help reduce bass overload in the corners. My speakers are very full range, yet I have no bass boom, bloat or overhang at all. And this is without any acoustic treatments whatsoever!
Whether the open staircase is creating some kind of a "pressure valve", or something...I can't say for sure. Maybe some other room dynamic is at work. I dunno. Whatever the reason, I consider myself very lucky to be getting such good sound in the absence of any treatments.
Good luck, George!
Room looks real nice!
