Oh how glad I am to have found this place...
...a few days late.
I had been browsing around the A/V forums looking for decent Stereo advice but, of course, I ran in to the same old "stereo is dead" crowd.
I am a regular Head-Fi poster and, based on a few reccomendations I read there, I purchased the
Pioneer Elite A-35R for $200. I'll be feeding it with a Rotel RCD-955 AX CD player that I snagged for cheap.
Still, I had to purchase speakers. To tell you the truth I was sick of being told that the only speakers in the ~ $400 range worth my time were Axiom/Aperion and other speakers which appeal highly to the 7.1 channel home theatre crowd. That is when I ran in to Selah Audio.
Last night I sent my order in for the Hiddenite's in cherry- even though I saw no reviews, the information is fairly scarce, and it was slightly out of my budget, I just had a great feeling about the company and I feel good supporting a handcrafted speaker maker. To wire it all together I purchased cables from Blue Jean's Cable.
After finding this forum I discovered a plethora of ~ $400 options for amplification and was just wondering if anyone had any input on the A-35R that I purchased. I read a bunch of good things about it and the elite series in general so I still think I will be satisfied (if even briefly) with the A-35R.
Also, does anyone have any experience with the Hiddenites? I see the Selah Forum is here but I couldn't find any feedback on them in particular.
(This place is almost as bad as Head-Fi, I discovered the SqueezeBox through here and I had another $300 missing out of my pocket ten minutes later

)
Thanks!
Philip
