I just dug out my Dared VP 20 mono's and need to replace the 6L6 quartet.  Looking through Parts Express catalog, are all the 6L6 tubes the same?  Some are 6L6GC, 6L6EH, 6L6WXT....  

Can you recommend a quartet for these amps that will cost me under $100?

I am not certain about this tube, but if you look on Response's forum for a thread about "your favorite pentode" you'll see that Bill spoke a lot to this tube and iirc said he like'd a certain chinese variant.

I don't know if the 6L6G is usable in your Dared, but these are very highly regarded...coke-bottle shaped vintage tubes that show up on ebay all the time. I used to have an SE amp that used a pair of 6L6s, and the 6L6G was my fave by far.

I've been using Electro Harmonix 6L6EH if that makes any difference?  Wider tubes might touch one another since the sockets are pretty close.
