Music Caravan for our next meeting?
« on: 14 Mar 2006, 02:55 am »
Hey guys,
I came up with an idea we could do for our next session. Since it will be warming up real soon maybe we can get together and check out the local music stores.  We could all meet up for an early breakfast in the loop and then hit the stores. We can do Vintage Vinyl, run up the road to Ecluid Records, then hit Webster Records. While we are in the area we can drop by Music For Pleasure and look at some cool gear. Then we can make a trip to the Record Exchange for the vinyl guys to look at well over 100,00 albums.
Then we could go give Tim a hard time the Sound Room. Theres Best Sound and even Herron Audio that we maybe able to work in. Then If I can swing it maybe Talk John (Musical Concepts) into giving a demo at his place that evening. Just something to think about. Let me know what you think. I think a Sat. will be the best day

Sturg,

Great idea! That definately solves the space issues we are running into with so many members. Maybe we could work out a loose schedule that shows where we'll be (or should be) at a certain time. That way somebody that joins us late can know where to meet us at.

Besides, you've hit some of my favorite haunts in the vinyl shops. I'm always up for a vinyl hunting trip. The dollar bins at teh record shops are a great way to wither fill in or even start a collection. They are usually in decent shape and you don't mind spending a buck or so on some unknown artist or album.

Count me in (unless its next weekend).

Excellent idea.  I'd be interested.  Just need a little notice to get an all day kitchen pass...

Im in if I am off work, I have one more weekend of work (this one coming up) and then I have about 8 weekends off in a row, so if I can swing it, I am there.

Methinks 'tis a great idea, Sturgus!
Would like to make it, IF (and a big if) I can swing a saturday off.
A little advance warning for me, if you please.

Getting a saturday off from the guy I work for is like asking if I can *do* his daughter....
Then again, if I get him drunk enough...

Yeah, I need a 'day-pass' from the Dead Mrs. as well...

Well, some things are worth the work!

DeadFish

With some notice I could perhaps swing a Saturday. If not I guess one of you can smuggle me in a beer when you come past to visit.

excellent idea Sturgus!

depending on the Saturday I'm in as well.  Spring weather right around the corner and plenty of good food, drink and music to keep us occupied all day.

That reminds me, there is a great little Italian place no more than a block or so away from Record Exchange. As you are headed south on Hampton, just as you make the final right turn where the RE is up on your left, this place is on your right. They've got pretty darned good food and its reasonable. It might be a good place to hit for lunch just before we take the RE by storm.

Hey Sturg, what time were you thinking about starting the trek? Since we're talking about one of my favorite subjects (food), where were you thinking about having breakfast on the Loop?

Sturgus: I vote that you become our CEO (chief entertainment officer)  I'm in and let's make this event sooner than later.  Let's end the day with some live music (any type except karaoke by the GAS boys)  :nono:

Good call!

Since we are hovering around the Webster area, maybe we could do Cookies Jazz & More?

I may be able to swing that. Since I'm not overly familiar with the whereabouts of all of those places I would need to follow someone or ride with someone. Any designated drivers out there?

Fellas, I was thinking of something like this Maybe we could do it on tax day April 15. If anybody would like to throw something out there go ahead. I also think that Jermey Davenport is doing a stint at Busch's Grove he has his whole band up here from New Orlens. There is no cover.
We could also check them out.

BRILLIANT!

April 15th should work for me.   :D

Maybe we should warn the audio stores that we are coming so they know to have their best gear connected.  A couple months ago I went to a store that had Maggie 1.6s and Wilson Maxxes.  The maggies were hooked up to a little Marsh amp and the Wilsons were hooked up to a solid state amp.   :!:  :?:  :!:

Well fellas, I had the wole day planed asked for the day off and was told I had it. I go to work today, change of plans. It seems that they decide to do away with a few people in my department and now no day off. I can't get away until the first week in May. If you guys decide to stay with Tax Day I will have to meet you after work. Or maybe we can  shoot for another Sat.
Sorry for the bad timing. Just let me know what you think.

Well look at it this way, at least they didn't do away with you! Since this was your excellent idea, I have no problem waiting until you can join in the merriment. After all, it's only another couple weeks.
