Hi John,

I suppose this depends on how clean of a DC to AC power inverter you are using.  A lot of the cheaper ones emit switching noise and their output isn't not a pretty sine wave like it should be.

It makes more sense to power a source directly with DC from the start (e.g. modded SB) or go with a battery powered DAC.
