The Cat-Trap

So I share my audio space with 2 dogs, 2 cats and 1 semi-understanding wife.

I want to do some acoustic treatment, starting with the low notes. I was wondering if anyone has sucsessfully merged (or even tried) combining a stand trap (for example) with a cat house...is this possible? Or should I stop smoking my cats catnip and forget about it?

You could just buy some Maggies and you would have a combination speaker / scraching stand :-)

You should just get some electrostatics -- if they don't learn with one jolt, the problem will still be fixed.

No, seriously, I love cats, would never do that to them.

The problem is, if they can get to just below the speaker, then they can get to the speaker (I presume that is what you're thinking -- having a Kitty Condo type thing underneath the speaker?).  So your best bet is the first option by itself.  Although I don't like not having the speakers flush with the edges.

You're probably going to need the speaker grills anyway.

I would think you could fashion some sort of column with a cut out region underneath which would work as a "cat house."  Just seperate the two areas from each other with a section, one for the cats, one for fiberglass.  Now that said, why does your cat need a house :?: ?    Mine seems perfectly content acting like she owns the place and I am a convienience to have around

Actually the trap would not be a speaker stand. And my pets don't even bother with the speakers anyways.

I was thinking more about pleasing the wife. It would be much easier to sell her on more pieces in the room if they were cat houses also. If she had her way every peice of audio gear I own would be replaced with another pet.

I am trying to kill two birds with one stone so to speak. Improve the room response and build some cat houses.

I have made cat homes using sono-type tubes. Picture this:
about 3 ft tall.

And make no mistake...they own the house too...just ask the dogs!
I have a feeling the dogs see things as:

CATS
WIFE
ME--DOGS
MAILMAN

Oh, okay.  Well, yeah, that should work.  And I bet the cats would love spending time shredding fiberglass.  Make sure you make them with replaceable canvas covers or something.
