Who's idea was it to put that little rubber stopper for the center hole holder?  :x  This album is going to sell huge anyhow but wow what a huge sales boost when people break their disc in half and have to buy another one!

I have to ask.... is there a healthy amount of that sweet guitar in the album? I need some insturments with my David Gilmour!

The WMP video I am sure is not even doing close to the justice the song needs. I however do enjoy it some.... except he looks extremely creepy in the blue setting at the microphone.

Uhhh I like Gilmour because his guitar is beautiful but he never expresses talent with speed or uniqueness that I have heard any how...

I picked up the CD... the extra disc was no where to be found... Ok I tried one place but I am not going to Best Buy to get a CD. It is a long ways on a bike and there are cooler local places to go too.

Yeah what the.... who was smoking crack when they made the "Jewel" case? They like made a book and "oh crap, how do we get the CD to stay in it"...."Excuse me sir we have a LARGE surplus of foam with a epoxy side, we can make dots out of it"

Er.... I hope I never break my CD!

talent does not equal speed. . . most FAST guitar I hear sucks. . ."Wow, you can play fast. . .but you sound like shite. . .change chords FASTER, bud. . come on. . you can do it!!!"

he has the most expressive/emotional guitar sounds IMO. . .amazes me. . .THAT's talent. . .

It tends to be very simple. Fast does not necessary to me refer to playing speed to be insane, but just being able to do a lot of stuff at the same time and make music I should say... I like guitar players that can do a lot. I like emotional stuff like Joe Satriani on the album Surfing with the Alien.... He is insanely emotional and there is a lot going on, a lot to hear and appreciate.

I like David Gilmour no doubt, I bought the CD....

What do you guys think of the quality of the recording? I think the CD itself may not be a good press.... I played it on some Focal speakers, 600wRMS some thing, tube pre, expensive cd player and the other guy questioned it, said it sounded bad.

I play it on my stuff, from my computer and I enjoy it...

I thought it was a good recording, but not audiophile quality (whatever that is).  I noticed a few songs seem to be intentionally 'lo-fi', which seems to be the trend these days.

I like most of the cd.  To me it's the mellow stuff that Gilmour excels at and I always thought Dark Side of the Moon was mostly Gilmour (just my impression).  There are 2 or 3 instrumental tracks, too, most of which are pretty listenable.

A coworker of mine got the cd and said he wished Gilmour had "cut loose" on the guitar a little more.  But I thought the cd had a good mix of electric and acoustic, atmosphere and mood.

I'm not sure about the 'rubber stopper' cd holder either, but I really do like the book concept and the artwork.  It seems to fit the music.

I play it on my ARC & Avalon set up and the recording quality sounds fine. You perhaps have a bad pressing.

Recording is kind of dark and I agree it is not audiophile quality.  I think it sounds pretty good though.  That rubber stopper is absolutely stupid. You need to doctor the case to insert a slim line cd holder.  :)

I picked up the album over the weekend and agree that it's not audiophile quality. IMO, the remastered Dark Side of The Moon album sound much better. :)

I think it only sounds good off a computer.... The song "Take a breath" sounds pretty good.

I am not sure what the issues are... he did so much with Pink Floyd, he seems like an audiophile type guy.... Have you seen his house and recording area etc?

Meh.  I was really underwhelmed with the "obvious" reverb.  I would love to hear a contemporary recording of that caliber just recorded in the room straight, as is.

That said, he has guitar tones to die for, and they translate just fine to MP3, so that part definitely passes muster.

Wonder why the "uneven" perception of the recording?

I just listened to it all the way through on my system and it is "most assuredly" audiophile quality.

In fact it is one of the most "under produced" CD's I have heard in some time. (which is a good thing)

I can hear the different mikes, and studio booths as well.

The sound effects are well panned and placed and the voices are recorded and mixed exceptionally well.

Only one spot did I think the Gilmour Axe a little "HOT" but I suspect that was the effect he was going for. 8)

It is easily of the same caliber as Water's "Amused to Death" in the engineering department.

I wonder if there are some bad pressing floating around.  Thank goodness I got a good one.
