Bugle problem in one channel
« on: 5 Mar 2006, 11:41 pm »
I built the Bugle last night, and put in brand new batteries...and am getting one channel fine, and the other one about 25db or so lower than it should be. I've looked over every connection and they look fine, so I'm a little lost - I tried switching the cables and the problem follows when I switch, so it's not the cables or anything like that. I did have trouble installing one of the opamps and bent one of the legs pretty badly, although it didn't come off...

Anybody else run into this when building, and any suggestions as to what to do first? Should I just take the soldering iron and go over everything?

Thanks!

Actually, in checking the archives, I see a couple of other people have had this problem, and both times it seems to have been bad solder connections...I'll check everything, since it seems likely that that's my problem as well.

I'd check resistor values first.  One of them in the off channel could be wrong.  They should be symmetric (mirrored), so use good channel as reference.

It turned out to be a cold solder joint...
