Allthough there is a bit of variation in the various releases over the years, I find them ALL great!  I'm not sure, there can't be many of them I don't have.  One of these days I have to check against their discography, but put it this way -- I have a whole BINDER full of Steeleye, Maggie Prior, and various incarnations of the several musicians in the core band!

Used to go hear them live whenever they were in the States, but I think they must have gotten P.O.'d at us, as they haven't played here in a long time, even though they still tour in Europe and occasionally Oz.
ChromisD, cool that you got to see them live   :green:. Don't recall ever hearing I was in their vicinty or would have definitely checked them out. Saw Fairport circa '74, only chance I ever had to see them, and it was fantastic. They opened for Traffic.

While I can only speak for myself, I think both elnman & I were speaking to personal preferences within their catalog, not the overall quality of their works. I like and have most all of their individual releases as well as a couple of the collections. When you've got 9's & 10's, it is splitting hairs over strength and weakness, and probably goes more to the individual song content/grouping rather than it's presentation. And eventually (so much music, so little money), I'd like to branch out into the individual artists offerings.

Have either of you heard or have Clannad or DeDannan ? I've got several Clannad, and probably more like Steeleye than Fairport, as Fairport always had a fairly good mix of folk & folk rock from the start, their later works are more modern for lack of a better term. Well worth checking out if you enjoy the Celtic/English folk/folk-rock genre. I only have two DeDannan, but have been meaning to expand that collection as well. Any thoughts or suggestions on their work will be appreciated.

From what I've noted your library is well varied and exemplary as well. Keep 'em spinning & posting.  8)

I've heard Clannad (but not for many (20+  :( ) years and never heard DeDannan. I'll have to give them both a listen (or relisten as the case may be)
