Take one under-rated songwriter circa 1981, add a Who's Who of musicians including Lou Reed, the Brecker Bros., G.E. Smith, Adrian Belew, Larry Fast and Federici and Bittan from the E Street Band and produce with Bob Clearmountain. Result : a tuneful stew of rock, R n' B, ska and reggae with lyrics reflecting a New York state of mind. A keeper and very cool.

Dreamend - So I Ate Myself: Bite By Bite (2010)

One of the better albums I bought this year, but it took me a couple of listens to appreciate it. It's an odd one, and I say that as someone who loves odd music. It's part low-fi, indie, and Americana (yes Americana). Those who "get" this will be rewarded with some of the most exciting music I've heard in years. It's an incredible album.
