Sting is quite the versatile musician. I became aware of this hearing him sing Angle Eyes from the movie, Leaving Las Vegas, and singing Sister Moon from the Herbie Hancock DVD, Possibilities. I didn't know who was singing the former at the time and waited for the credits to run. Very moving it was and the name came as quite a surprise to me. Didn't know the cat had it in him, then.
Yeah, the man truly has a gift. I consider his first three solo albums the cream of the crop of jazz-influenced popular music. Those albums are long-time favorites of mine, but I think the best thing he's done as a solo artist is his "Bring on the Night" album. It's F-ing brilliant. You'd probably have to watch the video to understand it all, but I think it's one of the best live albums I've ever heard. When you watch the band (of wildly dissimilar backgrounds) practice and prepare for their first live performance in front of a huge crowd in Paris, you realize that there are only a few artists that could have pulled it off so perfectly. Highly recommended.
Rain, Rain, Rain - Another Lightning and Thunderstorm here in the Midwest. I'm gonna start building an ark. The rig is completely unplugged. Don't matter anyway, as you couldn't hear the music over the rain pounding on the roof. This is definitely analog! Rock and roll Mother Nature
