Hey Mr. PumpkinMan I got that one at the Fair too...AB..Soul/jazz meets Dub.http://www.myspace.com/wcookiesWet Cookies, soul protection
The New Pornographers - Electric Version. One of the finds at today's WFMU record + cd fair. I'll be playing and posting stuff for the next few days that I bought at the fair today. 12 cds for $19, now even Harry (Audiocheapskate) can appreciate that cost ratio. Hung out with Martin (mjosef), Pumpkinman and Mrs. Pumpkinman at the fair and had a great lunch together, after seeing them at the NY Rave the day before.
Paul, it looks like you did a lot of "spaving" this weekend. SPending + sAVING = SPAVING!
I missed the Fair again..... Cool tunes....Wet Cookies - "Earthling"
Anemik is inarguably a home studio, hand-crafted and "folky" affair, yet it's also an album that reveals Dinky at a creative peak, and at a convergence of her previous excursions into ambient, dub techno, experimental house and electronica. The programming is constructed entirely with analog equipment, and is wedded to Dinky's percussion, vocals, keys and guitar. The album's early tracks "Childish," "Romaniks" and "Westoid" bloom in real time, with a dizzying amount of dissonant elements added one after the other, modifying and renewing. Discordant, floating bass tones, jazz syncopation, poly- or non-rhythmic percussion, vocals hushed and whispered or full-bodied and full-force: It's not an easy marriage but the end result is equal parts strange and breathtaking...http://www.residentadvisor.net/review-view.aspx?id=6734
