Emerging young trumpet player debut album. Somewhat on the 'smooth' side and I think some tracks are mixed way too bass heavy. Most of the tracks are pretty enjoyable. Overall way too polished for my taste, I like a lil' bite in my jazz. But he is gettin' the gigs and the press attention. Good for him.

Earlier..another debut album

Quote
As a female jazz flutist, Anne Drummond is a rarity among rarities. Although the instrument has been utilized in jazz for several decades, it has never been as ubiquitous as the saxophone, trumpet or trombone, and virtually every acknowledged master has been male....the debut recording from the artist recently named a Rising Star by DownBeat magazine and featured in a cover story in Flute Talk magazine.

She is pretty, but she has a way to go yet...just an hour has passed since I listened to her album but I cannot recall her 'sound'. Downbeat pegged her as a "rising star".

The Clash  -  Live 2/13/79 at the Agora Ballroom (Cleveland, OH)  - King Biscuit recording streamed from Wolfgang's Vault

Over the years I wore out a cassette tape of this from when it was originally broadcast - great to find a lot of the old King Biscuit stuff that I used to have on cassette and that eventually died. Also it's cool that this is a 10 song set, when the original broadcast only had 4 of these songs.

Yes - 90125

Most of my Yes fan friends hate this album, but I think it's great. One of my fav-80's discs. Yeah, "Owner of a lonely heart" is about as worn out as a Lynyrd Skynyrd song during a rush hour commute, but the rest of the songs are really incredible. Great keyboards, bass playing and vocals. "Cinema" is a masterpiece all to itself.

The gold reissue should be out any day:
