That's terrible Browntrout.
It's my fear which is why I've been keeping a second amp on hand. Of course I was supposed to sell when I bought my current amp but I'm not ready to part with the safety net yet!

I've been in contact with Tom Willis who designed it and he seemed to think that because the tubes I'm using are rather powerfull for their type that he might have to redesign part of the circuit. This has happened before and he kindly sent me the parts, a voltage regulator and three caps, which I fitted myself but as it has now happened on the other channel it is assumed something is not right.
Seeing smoke come out of your amp is not very nice but going without my stereo is worse. You don't realise how much good music helps with everyday life until it is gone. I'm sure it will all come good in the end. :D

hmmm...fortunately/unfortunately I think I do realize what a safe haven I have in my little system   and I do like the "all good in the end" belief  :thumb:

Chronological Classics - Rex Stewart: 1934-1946

Stewart was best known for his "talking" style of cornet playing in Duke Ellington's
Orchestra.  The material he recorded in other settings for The Hot Record
Society and other labels is no less compelling.  This Chronological Classics
CD is getting a bit pricey and tough to find but it is well worth looking for
if you're a fan of Duke Ellington's pre-WWII material or 1930s and 40s swing.
The sound quality is surprisingly good.
