That is a surprise!  I think you paid $2.99 too much though.   :D

So, it turns out that this Mozart guy was pretty good!

It also turns out that I really need some sub-wooferage!

Paul, lately I've been getting into this band: great melodies, great voice, and a dark lyrical sensibility.  :thumb:  Ed's got me listening to lyrics more, so you can teach an old dog new tricks.

Jenny writes geat lyrics.  Elvis Costello wrote that MA has the best lyrics he's heard in many years.   The lyrics on It's A Hit, Portions For Foxes, Love and War, A man/me/then Jim, and It Just Is, are as good as anything I've ever heard, including the Beatles.  And that's just on one cd.  Give a listen to Papillion, 85, Troubadours (about Jenny's growing up in Las Vegas), Teenage Love Song, Glendora, Pictures of Success (with the amazing verse: They say California is a recipe for a black hole.  And I say I've got my best shoes on, I'm ready to go.), Wires and Waves, Science vs Romance, The Good That Won't Come Out, The Execution Of All Thngs (double entendre), A Better Son/Daughter, With Arms Outstretched, Silver Lining, Close Call, The Moneymaker, and Under The Black Light are some other songs with excellent lyrics.  But it's not just the lyrics, Jenny throws in surprising effects at times, like her shriek in Gravity, or her panting in Portions for Foxes.

Lyrics, without a good melody is not a song.  Brake is amazing in his contribution to make RK the band it is.  He fleshes out all of Jenny's lyrics and basic melodies into beautiful compositions, by filling in the gaps with his always tasteful and very melodic guitar playing.  Pierre and Jason also contribute alot with their tight rhythm section playing.

RK is a band's band, as evidenced by their huge following from other bands or musicians like Elvis Costello, Michael Stipe (R.E.M), Death Cab for Cutie, Feist, Bright Eyes, and Superchunk to name a few.  They also have a huge following among the entertainment world, such as Tobey Maguire, Reese Witherspoon, Sarah Silverman, etc.  I once calculated the percentage of the songs I like or love from their total output (including alternate mixes and non recorded songs), which is abut 140 songs.  The perentage is 91%.  I can't think of another musician or band that even comes close to 50% that I like.  I could go on and on, but I'll stop now since I hijacked this thread long enough..
