Although I have not liked their previous albums and thought they were highly overrated critics' darlings, I am now really enjoying the new Animal Collective album, Meriweather Post Pavillion.  It is somewhat "trippy" and took a few listens to really get into, but I am finding myself listening to it over and over.  Some of the songs have amazing melodic riffs and the musical textures the band creates are really unique and totally engaging.  This is one of the very best albums I have purchased since Radiohead's Kid A, although Animal Collective is nothing like Radiohead.

Thanks Ed for bringing me into the light.   I thought it was a riddle, not a literal reference.  The amazon website says some of their influences are the The Pixies, Dinosaur Jr. and the The Pet Shop Boys.  Listening to snippets I heard no resemblance at all to the Pixies and Dinosaur Jr., and if I stretch my inmagination, maybe just maybe a hint of the Pet Shop Boys.

Ed, this one's for you.

If you look at the soundtrack on amazon you would actually see a lot of nick cave connection. Barry adamson was in the band Nick cave and the bad seeds at one tine Crime and the city solution and The birthday party nicks early band have common members in the band so i see 8 tracks in the album that are nick related the song in question was on this album

The Good Son
by Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds
Lamnet is the song.

Nick made this album right after getting out of rehab for a little heroin habit that he had picked up kind of a creapy album cover. THe songs seem to reflect that in a way it's a good cd has a couple of my favorite tracks on it The weeping song and the ship song both very good tunes

ed

Sweet Revenge
Bangs

I was just referring to the actual Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds song Lament, not to any of the associations.  When I came out of the theater after seeing that movie, the song was haunting me, so I ran down to the nearest Tower Records at the time and bought a copy of the soundtrack.  That song and the Victoria Williams song "Love" on the soundtrack I still play a lot.
