The Swell Season - Glen Hansard and Marketa Irglova

This is the fourth time I've listened to this in four days. A beautiful album my daughter told me to get so she could burn it to her ipod. Best album I've bought in a while.

Smile- Laura Nyro (Columbia).  I likes the ladies.  Especially ones who employ Richard Davis on bass.  Check out the last track on side one (or track 4, if you must tho the CD sounds like an afterthought)- I Am The Blues.  David Friedman on vibes and a deep and wonderful solo from Randy Brecker, trumpet.  If you download tunes, include Money, the song that precedes it.  Fantastic.

PS- Oh, and it sounds much less like an afterthought if you listen to it LOUD!

Speaking of David Friedman, one of the finest impressionists on his instrument you may have never heard of . . Double Image- Dawn (early ECM). With Dave Samuels on vibes and marimba alternately with Friedman,  Harvie Swartz, bass, and Mike de Pasqua, percussion.  Rare and hypnotic stuff.

No need to pm me.
Yes, I know this is really Chris Becker aka Lonewolf.
I used his stage name or at least I assume his stage name based on this article posted on Proudfoot Sound, I quote,

Quote
42nd STREET - Cool Dude & Foxy Lady / Spray Paint Bandit (Sunburst 1974)
"We used to compete with the Harlots of 42nd Street which was a group of guys who looked like truck drivers but dressed like the Dolls and wore, like, fishnet stockings over these big muscular hairy legs. They were my favourite band."
This is what David Johansen says during an interview about the Harlots Of 42nd Street. Formed by the guitarist Chris Harlott, this band, together with the New York Dolls, Magic Tramps, the Brats, Teenage Lust, and others glitter rock band of the time, dominated the NYC underground scene in the first half of the 70s. Here's a copy of their single on Sunburst records, produced by Seth Greenky.

If you haven't seen it yet, here's the link.
