Hi Dave,

Think I'll get the album then.  I was worried it was going to be more of Wilco.  I like Wilco but don't need Wilco II.

Too bad you missed the blueberry season.  I used to love picking wild blueberries in Maine and Nantucket the times I went there.  My friends and I used to
add whip cream and it was sublime eating.  One summer in Nantucket, I saw the Aurora Borealis and it was a mine blowing experience.  No, I didn't take any drugs beforehand, just two or three beers.  Did you have your fill of lobster and clam chowder?     Did you ever lived in the Northeast?

Don't know if you're aware of my recent massive three part review of some iFi-audio components.  Just finished reviewing the Teac UD-501 USB DAC and got the draft back from the company after fact checking.  Excellent value I might add, especially with DSD files.  I love stuff that punches above the cost.  Should be online soon.  I'm in the middle of reviewing the brand new Prima Luna Dialogue Premium HP power amp.  I hope to beat everyone else with a world premiere if I can get it done by the end of this month, but I don't think so because I requested both EL34 and KT120 output tubes.  I've listened with the EL34s but haven't even open the KT120s yet.  Oh, I just got a pair of Fritz' revised Carbon Seven speakers.  That's it till next year.  I'm taking a break after the Carbon Sevens.  By that time, I'll have written more reviews in one year for Dagogo (eight, including the three part iFi review) than two and half years for the Stereo Times (six, though I also wrote a bunch of show reports and manufacturer visits).

Cheers,
Paul

p.s. I'll be back more often on this circle once I finish all my reviews.

Paul,
I was stationed in Brunswick, Maine from 1998-2002. When we used to have a Navy base there. It was one of my favorite tours (Crete, Greece being #2). I've been wanting to get back up there for a while and decided peak leaf season would be the perfect time. We definitely got our quota of clams and lob-stah!

Perfect timing on your upcoming reviews. I've had my eye on the iFi gear for a secondary headphone only system. Looks like a tremendous value. I saw the Premium HP on Primaluna's website a few weeks ago. Looks like a serious competitor to the Ayon Audio integrated I've been lusting after. Please remind us when the reviews go live.

Talk to you soon,

Dave

Ah, chow-dah.  You're making my mouth water.  I'm going to Marblehead, MA for a few days next month to visit an audiophile friend.  You bet I'll be consuming some briny denizens of the deep.  :D

My three part iFi review has been online for a while if you're interested in their stuff.

If I Were A Carpenter - Various artists.

Shonen Knife's cover of "Top of the World" is fun, fun, fun.  It's hilarious to hear a Japanese accent with this song.

Sonic Youth's version of "Superstar" is atmospheric, almost like a zombie singing.

My favorite track on this disc is Cracker's version of "Rainy Days and Mondays" with its dissonant guitar notes and languid backup chorus playing off the lead vocals.  Brilliant!

All and all, very nicely done tribute album.

The best clam chowder I had was at a little bistro in Camden. Yum! Enjoy your trip! I'm chillaxin' after painting my garage today. I'll check out your iFi reviews this weekend. I should have enough removed off my "to do" list to read all three parts back-to-back.

Thanks.  It will be r and r mostly.  The only work I'll do is tweaking his system, and the rest of the time will be listening to it.
Do you remember the name of the bistro in Camden?   Maybe I'll check it out when I go to Marblehead.  Wait, I just looked up the town and it's in northern Maine.  Too far to travel for this trip.
The three part iFi is the longest review I ever wrote.  I initially wrote  it as one very long review.  Then I thought nobody will read it completely in one sitting, so I broke it up into three parts.  I then realized after partitioning that the company info was in part I along with my review of the iTube buffer/preamp and a lot of readers are not interested in reading about tube buffers.  So it will look strange for people who only read part II to see no introduction or listing of my assoc. gear and that I start straight off describing several iFi devices.  I wrote an explanation at the start of part III that told people they should read the first page of Part I to get the background info for a better flow to the review if anyone is only going to read parts II and III. But this doesn't help those who already read part II only.
For the future, the solution is to write separate and shorter reviews for more than two components from the same manufacturer.  The total word count for the three parts totaled almost 7,500.  That's almost as long as my college senior thesis.  I think it's some of the best writing I've ever done, but I'll never do that again, too much work.  Sorry for the long winded answer to your non-question.  My stream of consciousness just took off.

Mediocre album, but I didn't have to pay anything for it. It is not one I would have rushed out to get. I would have waited until I found it in the bargain bins, even though I have all their previous albums.
