Chico Hamilton- Man From Two Worlds (Impulse).

This is jazz but I'm recommending it here because it is not mainstream jazz and is very accessible. Members of the band and composers Gabor Szabo and Charles Lloyd contribute some of their best writing and playing that I know of. The song Lady Gabor is more of a gypsy lullaby than any mainstream jazz track you may have heard. It's both romantic and highly engaging. Each chorus gains momentum tho it never becomes over the top. This is some one of a kind and nice stuff. I saw them live on two occasions at a small jazz club back in the day. Quite obviously, I'm recommending that jazz and then some music lovers amongst you check it out.
