Ed Cramer turned me on to them a few years ago.  I like Blender (1998) even more than this earlier album.

The Raveonettes - Raven in the Grave (2011)

Samples

I just came back from seeing them at Webster Hall.  They rock a lot harder live than on their albums.  I bumped into Sune and Sharin getting out of a cab in front of the venue, and told them I was looking forward to seeing them live.  Sharin let out a laugh and Sune thanked me.  They were on tonight and the audience responded in kind.

Hey Paul!

Thanks for the tip on "Blender". I'd never heard of them before, but couldn't pass up a perfect copy of this in the clearance bin for a buck. Took a chance and really liked it.  Ed needs to get his butt back here. I miss that guy.

Weekend Players - Pursuit of Happiness (2003)

Samples

Allmusic.com:

"Groove Armada wizard Andy Cato finds an appealing match for this project in Rachel Foster, who broadens the disembodied aesthetic of trip-hop vocals with a throaty, suggestive sensuousness. Cato creates a noir ambience; Foster, whose background includes theater performance, projects herself into it with no apparent effort. Her gifts are most evident where the instrumental tracks are simplest, as on "Angel," or in settings fashioned specifically to show her off through subtle vocal processing and arrangement, such as "Into the Sun." Throughout Pursuit of Happiness, Foster comes across as a less strident, more seductive Annie Lennox -- exactly the right complement for Cato's precise technique, sleek pads, and breezy beats. On the standout track, "I'll Be There," he lays a 4/4 melody across an accompaniment drawn from "Electric Counterpoint" by the minimalist composer Steve Reich; the result is a polyrhythmic interplay whose heat animates Foster's cool delivery, and from concept to execution it's a textbook lesson for excellence within this genre."

How is this album. It is one of the ones I just picked up. Sounded interesting.

It's hard to believe BOC's 40 year anniversary is this month.
In their heyday they were i t IT for live, hard rock shows.
Buck Dharma could play an SG like nobody else.
Those were good times.

I think it's great and actually like it better than my Groove Armada albums. The first track was almost too "Ibiza" sounding to me, but the rest of the album turned out to be somewhat chilled and loungy. Really nice. I love the singers voice. She kind of reminds me of Tracy Thorn from EBTG.
