joanne shaw taylor. (i don't even remember how i originally came across her, i think i was looking up some blues guitar on amazon one night and she came up as one of the suggestions). anyway, i ended up picking up the
white sugar cd, and i'm listening to it tonight after not hearing it for a while. good stuff.
the lcd-3 headphones that i'm listening to this through makes her slightly fuzzy, slightly distorted guitar
(on some passages. other guitar parts are "cleaner", certain solo passages are very clean, so you can hear and appreciate her fast fingering) sound goood.
i definitely don't mean to criticize this sound. a little bit of (distortion through a tube-based amp?) can be a good thing.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YJ4rJn9j2Pg&feature=player_detailpageoverall, i like the way this album was recorded and mixed. on the whole, they got a good sound. she's a very good player. good album.
