Depeche Mode - Violator (1990)

This is more techno-dance than their previous offerings.  I like a lot of their earlier stuff, but this is not my cup of tea.  Good thing it was only a buck.

Wow, my feelings are completely opposite of yours on this one, and our tastes are pretty similar on a lot of music. To me, this is when everything came together. They (finally) moved away from the Vince Clark "disco-pop" era that kept me away, to a darker, more introspective style of writing and playing. I have most of their stuff, but consider "Black Celebration", "Violator", and "Songs of Faith and Devotion" to be their best. I guess those are the three you should avoid

I actually have "Black Celebration" on lp, though I haven't played it in 10+ years since I haven't played my turntable during that period.  Although it's not my favorite D.M. album, I prefer it over "Violator."  I don't mind introspective, dark music but I can't get pass the techno-dance beat of most of the songs on "Violator."   :dunno:
