Fox Confessor Brings the Flood LP
Neko Case

Good choice Ed. For me, this was the album that showed Neko's range extended far beyond alt country. She has become one of my favorite female artists.

Your right there but i'm still not sure i am comfortable with the direction she is going in first 3 albums were a dark alt country which hooked me firmly why her tunes are still all story tunes i'm just not sure some times what she singing about she's kinda went on some abstract tangent with the last three

It's been a long while since I got this excited about a jazz album.
Excellent piano based jazz.

Down to the Promised Land: 5 Years of Bloodshot Records
Various Artists (Artist)

Samples
Amazon.com
Since hoisting the "insurgent country" banner in 1995, Chicago's Bloodshot Records has provided refuge for former punk rockers who embrace Hank Williams Sr. as patron saint and Lefty Frizzell as kindred spirit. Informed by equal measures of attitude, alcohol, and twang, this raucously vibrant birthday collection of previously unreleased material resists the corral of categorical conformity. Instead, highlights range from the Waco Brothers' banjo-driven breakdown of the Who's "Baba O'Riley" to the shimmering, haunted ballad, "Favorite," by Neko Case and Jon Rauhouse. Featured within the 40 tracks on this two-disc extravaganza are label stalwarts such as Alejandro Escovedo (renewing Mick Jagger's "Evening Gown"), Robbie Fulks, and Kelly Hogan, along with guest artists ranging from Graham Parker to Giant Sand. Plainly a labor of love, the set provides a definitive survey of the diversity of music carrying the alternative-country brand. --Don McLeese

Quote
'Bloom', a spirited and colossal collaboration between pianist Thollem Mcdonas, multi-saxophonist and electronician Rent Romus, instrument builder Steven Baker, and drummer and found-object player Jon Brumit. The CD features free group improvisations as well as interpretations of numerous textual and graphical scores offered up by Mcdonas and Brumit. The entire album is an organic construction and expression of solos, duos, and trios combining disparate and divergent stylistic histories with a sense of refreshing immediacy, intensity, and spontaneous inventiveness.

Modern Jazz Sextet is a jazz album by Dizzy Gillespie, Sonny Stitt, John Lewis, Percy Heath, Skeeter Best, Charlie Persip. The album was conceived by producer Norman Granz for his own label Norgran Records. Although no single album artist is credited as a band leader for this album, Verve Records - which owns the Norgran catalogue - files it as a Dizzy Gillespie album.

Thanks for posting that!  I have a lot of Dizzy's and Sonny's stuff but this one snuck underneath my radar.  The bad news is that it seems to have been discontinued.  The good news is that I found a nice used copy in the Amazon.com marketplace and it just arrived in the mail a few moments ago.
