Ethan,I haven't actually seen this stuff, but the person I spoke to said it's very much like "OC703". Is OC703 mineral wool or flberglass? I plan to also stuff the joist baffles with conventional fiberglass insulation, and do some treatments in the room corners for the low end, like bass traps. I may hit you up for a stand trap at some point. I have a corner just begging for something like that. Thanks for the reply,Jason
I have the option to get 4.5 lb density foam in 2x4 panels for my ceiling. It's not an OC product, but is instead made by Ottawa Fiber. It's unfaced, like the OC703 series is. I want it to be soft enough to help tame the low end the room, but not soft enough so that the anchors pull out. any ideas?
Make sure you space it off the ceiling 2 inchs..Glenn

Bruno,> one can buy up to 5.3 lb density foam (e.g memory foam). My intuition tells me that this foam must be good for bass but I haven't see any low frequency adsorption measurements of such foam. <Density is only part of the equation, and it's more a side-effect than the main factor that determines its usefulness as an absorber for bass frequencies. Moreover, acoustic foam is open celled, where most non-acoustic foam is closed cell. There's probably a good reason the company offers no acoustic data...--Ethan
