Yep, have tried it into both.  Prior to re-arranging my room (to the way you saw/heard it in December), there was very little difference between the SB2 and my EA S7700 transport (the differences were really only significant when I had the Focus Master 3's here).  However, after re-arranging the room, it is much easier to hear the differences, even when just running the Acoustic Zen Adagios....

CD's are not necessarily Redbook spec. any longer.  The patent ran out in 2003.  CD's up until that point were always marked Compact Disc Digital Audio and Sony and Philips were paid a royalty.

Copy protection was not part of the Redbook spec. and now it's appearing on more amd more discs.  The CD side of DualDiscs certainly are not Redbook

I'm just ripping my CDs to a hard drive (Apple Lossless format)...
