HagUSB - very nice!

I ordered a HagUSB Wednesday and got it in the mail Saturday - thanks for the fast shipping Jim!

This is a major change for my system, going from a cd player (Response Audo tube CDP) to a music server (XP Pro, J River Media Center, APE files, and an ASIO driver) feeding my trusty NAD 752 receiver via the HagUSB, so it's impossible to attribute the changes I hear to one thing. All I know is this is the smoothest most analogue-sounding digital system I have ever personally owned. The HagUSB plugged in and did it's thing without a glitch.

I found a nice use for the headphone output. I feed the little speakers in my LCD monitor with this, and use it to monitor playback since the electronics are in a separate room from the main speakers (in an adjoining home theater room).

I like it!

Nice solution for the headphone out. (Now why can't I think of these things?)

Are you doing the digital to analog conversion in the NAD reciever?  What are you using as a D/AC?

I should be getting the demo Chime any day now.  So no special drivers/firmware need to be installed for HagUSB to work?

You just plug in the HagUSB with USB cable, and it works automatically?

Aaron,

Yes, for now I'm using the NAD DAC section. I've always been impressed with it's listenability. It just isn't the most detailed DAC around. The Response Audio CD player's DAC section was far better in many regards, but it was too forward for my tastes in this particular system. I'm mulling DAC upgrade options at the moment.

Jon,

Yup, you plug and play. Nothing else required. I did install an ASIO USB driver, but that's not required. I do think the driver is responsible for some of the improvement in sound though.

Jon,  automatic on my cpu w/ xp- no drivers needed. It was recognized as usb audio device or something like that. Thing sounds really good.
