The Yamaha players always are an enigma to me. They always are said to sound so good but always have other pitfalls that end up being deal breakers to me. I know their 5 disc model was hammered for several reasons while the audio was still heralded. I'm more interested in the single disc player such as this one but I see very little information whether it is affected by some of the same problems.
If some of these problems have been corrected in this model I might be interested because of the audio. I have heard they won't play HDCD encoded discs and distort badly and also won't play mp3. I am still considering a Yamaha but I would really like to know the lowdown on this unit. Any help would be appreciated!
Also I thought Yamaha had such good warranties. From what I have seen this only carries a 1 year parts 90day labor warranty. This warranty seems a little flimsy for the price point that this player is at upwards of $399.
