Midbass amp, 200RMS per/ch, <$1500?

Need a stereo amp for midbass drivers only.

Minimum 200WRMS per/ch @ 4-Ohms, both channels driven.  Only midbass signals will be amplified.  Active first-order high-pass @ 120 Hz, passive first-order low-pass @ 260 Hz.

All SS, convection cooled only, highly reliable with well established track record.  I dislike fullrange digital, but for midbass only it may be very good.

Nothing made in France.

New MSRP below $1500, belower is betterer.

Thanks all.

Try a Parasound 1500A or Rotel 991. They will work well for 5-600 apiece. If you want made in America you'll pay much more for the same performance.

Wish I made up my mind about this right when Good Guys' fire sale started...

Short list below.  Comments on the Anthem?

1. Anthem Statement A2, bipolar, $1300, 225/370 8/4 Ohm, 34 lbs
2. Amplifier Technologies, Inc (ATI) AT1802, bipolar, $1k, 180/270W, 50 lbs!
3. B&K Reference 200.2 S2, MOSFET, $1500, 225/375W, 42 lbs

Jim,

You may want to look right here on AC.

AVA makes some of the best sounding SS amps in the world. Frank has been doing this for about as long as Brian has been building speakers. Take a look at the OmegaStar series.

Klaus at Odyssey has also been around for many years. The product is based on a Greman design that has been updated and refined for MANY years. He is great to deal with and has MANY happy customers here at AC.

Kevin Haskins new Hypex module amps should fit the ballpark. They are relatively new so you do not have the track record of AVA or Odyssey.

Ric Schultz is also going to be working with these modules. He has a VERY good rep for products for a looong time.

How about a Hafler XL 600.  These are pretty good amps and are american made. Can be had for 4-550 on Ebay.  These do have fan cooling but need to be driven very hard to be able to hear it and then you have to be right next to it.
