Using volume control of SB3 for 2ch and pre/pro for HT?

My set up is used for both HT and 2ch.  Listening is ongoing, but I think I like the sound of my 2ch system using the volume control of my SB3 directly feeding my amps instead of using my Odyssey Tempest preamp.  Is there some sort of switch I can use to switch between using my pre/pro for HT and SB3 for 2ch?  Something with 2 inputs and one output and no volume control?

Not sure if such a switch is available, but it certainly could be built.

What would be perfect, would be if your preamp had an HT bypass...

Sure. Radio shack has one if you aren't too worried about quality. Dan Banquer of RE Designs makes a nice one. Personally, i built one myself to do exactly what you're planning using cardas RCAs, 99.995% solid core silver wire, and tocos switches from handmade electronics. It's a pretty easy weekend project.

My Tempest does have HT bypass, but I think i prefer the sound of 2ch more when SB3 directly feeds the amps.  I need to listen a little more, but feeding my amps directly produces a clearer, more natural sound.  Bass seems tighter and punchier.

If I can find a good switch that will do the job, I can sell the Tempest.

I just remembered I do have a cheap Radioshack switch I can try.  I'll give a try, but I might want something a little fancier.  A remote control would be nice.

I think this radio shack switcher is remote controlled, 15-1927. A high quality remote controlled switcher could be built, but it may end-up being a little pricey, depending on the quality you're looking for.
