Bryston BP26 DA gets Editors Choice rating
« on: 7 Feb 2006, 12:07 am »
I have just read a glowing review in Hi-Fi Choice magazine which rated this as "a true reference class component".
The review also looked at the 2B SST (C-Series) which was given a favourable review but the BP26 was the star.

The review stated that the BP26 represented a significant upgrade on its predecessor the BP25, "delivering cleaner high frequencies and a greater sense of openess". "Music seems more open and organic".

The reviewer puts a lot of the improvements down to the MPS2 power supply, which is no suprise.

James,
Congratulations on another excellent component.

How much does the sound quality of the BP25 differ from the BP26 if the MPS2 power supply is used?

Hi,

Thankyou for your kind comments. I have always felt that Bryston has built State of The Art preamps for many years. It is very nice to see the reviewers are starting to take notice. Interesting is it not given the earlier comments in this forum about what preamp to use with Bryston amps.

The MPS-2 can be used with the BP20or BP25.

Except for my (older) BP20

Maybe I'll have to try and arrange a BP26 home addition this weekend when the 'other' preamp is in my home as well. Just for reference  :D

There is no doubt whatsoever that any piece of Bryston gear performs excellently, its just a matter of personal taste how one completes the audio setup.

Maybe I'll find out the Bryston is THE way to go after all and save myself some serious money
