Confuse about versions, upgrade, warranty, etc?
« on: 5 Feb 2006, 03:46 am »
Nuforce is a fully integrated company with capability to design and manufactured switching power supply, amplifier, inverter (DC-AC conversion), power conditioner and other stuff

We try to share as many parts and technology across one or more product line. Therefore even discontinued models can be upgraded and supported.

Warranty - Transferable. Some products have longer warranty than other.

Minor upgrade - as we continue our R&D and receive feedback from customers, obviously we find ways to improve the products.  It is our policy to pass along small improvement to customer at a reasonable cost. We typically charge a small service fee plus S&H for minor upgrade. If the upgrade is to address a product's short coming, it is offered free of charge.  Sometimes this happened at the same time as we made performance improvement (such as 9.0 upgrade to 9.02).

Major upgrade - this only happen when we introduce a new generation of technology.  Sometimes this happen as a result of features upgrade. Since we control our own technology, we can standardize on a certain form factor of amplifier or power supply for a whole series of product.  Existing models, including discontinued models can be upgraded.

Version numbers - Model number is indicated by the whole integer numbers. The 1st decimal digit is reserved for major upgrade.  The 2nd decimal digit indicates minor upgrade.

Whenever we introduce a minor upgrade, you can assume that everything that leaves our factory will have the latest version. And that includes any surplus stocks or discontinued models.

Upgrade Cost - Expect to pay 25% to 30% of MSRP for a major upgrade. New technology doesn't come cheap, but it is much better than taking a loss on selling existing product and buying new model.  So if you find used NuForce product onsale, take advantage of it
For minor upgrade, it is available free or for a very small service charge.

Repair Cost - We charge modest service and parts cost for out of warranty repair.  If a major upgrade only cost 30% of the MSRP, expect to pay much less for repair service.

Reference 8.5 - It is Reference 9 with 100W power supply. Can be transformed into Ref 9 with change of face plate and power supply

Reference 8/8b - discontinued but since they share the same circuit board as other Reference series products, they are being supported.
