Would this work for reducing AC noise? 12V sealed car battery to   inverter to standard SB regulated wall wart. The inverter would isolate the SB from the vagaries of grid power. You could run the SB off of the large battery and, of course, periodically recharge it from the grid.

Why DC/AC/DC?  Just get a 5 VDC battery.

Yeah, I guess I'm making things too complicated. Perhaps I could just buy a rechargeable 5V battery pack and run the SB3 off of that. I would prefer a pack that had enough capacity so charging wouldn't become a headache.

You would also still have the noise from the switching power supply in the stock SB power supply. In addition, the DC/AC inverter likely uses a switching supply, so this might make it even worse.
