Signal cap. value in tube stage.
« on: 30 Jan 2006, 07:38 pm »
Hi,

I have a Sony cd player that has a tube stage modification. Basically the tube stage is fed directly off the 24/192 chip.

What value capacitors are usually used coming off this low voltage? I want to replace the existing signal cap. with a Jensen Copper paper/oil. The cap currently in their is a rather exotic Korean Tracon poly. # 2G503K
Does anybody know the values of this cap?

If I am replacing a cap. in this instance, do you have to change values if changing brands?

Take care,

Corey

if you know the input impedance of the tube stage following the dac, then you can use this formula listed on diyparadise.com here (jump to coupling cap).   Alternatively you can try a few google searches of that cap & # to see if you can find the value.  You will want to stick to roughly the same value as the cap you are replacing, both farads and voltage (higher voltage cap is ok, but typically not lower).
