In an effort to promote the CHIME (which nobody seems to know about, other than you), I've posted a rediculously low starting price for a CHIME auction at audiogon.

Hey Jim, is the 'Chime Tour' still on?
I've heard only one comment from someone that listened to it, but other than that, nada.
My first thought is that no one wants to predispose others' opinions, but have to admit curiosity as once the tour was set up, the whole thread fell off the earth.

Chime Tour

I'm pretty sure the chime tour is still on because I've got the tour dac playing in my system right now.  I'm sorry for not writing up my observations earlier.  I agree with the previous review from Yoda / Matt that this is a great dac.  I've listened to a fair number of good dacs and I find that the Chime is easily the best dac I've had in my system.  It displaces a nicely done TDA1541 non-oversampling DAC that had been my current best of breed.  It also betters a highly tweaked ART DIO which is also known as a giant killer.  Its got a large and deep soundstage, gorgeous midrange, and very transparent highs.  The sound is actually quite similar to the non-os dac except the highs and details on the Chime are much better.  I'm guessing thats because non-oversampling dacs have a slight high frequency droop.
Anyway, anyone in the market for a dac should take a long, long look at the Chime.  Its really good.
Thanks,
---Gary

People on the tour list, don't forget there are people waiting for the DAC here on the West Coast!

Anyway, has anyone been listening to the DAC via USB?  Anyone successfully using Foobar with ASIO?
