Go here and here to have a few looks at this upcoming unit. To me it's evocative of a pairing of the top of R2D2 ensconsed with votive candles (actually tubes). Perfect for when you're rewatching Star Wars for the umpteenth time.

Hi-Vision?

Hi-Vision is a Japanese analog HD format that was around from 1991-mid/late 90's I believe.

Hi-Vision software was available on tape (W-VHS) or LaserDisc (Muse encoded). There were also some commercial only apps where the Hi-Vision was on LD in it's uncompressed format.

But there was no Hi-Vision on any 5" disc....
