Concert at the Pageant on Saturday, March 15th. :D

Tickets are a little steep at $27.50 but should be well worth it.
If a few of us express interest maybe we can meet up for a pizza and beer at Ciceros.  And, when in U.City- Vintage Vinyl is always a fun walk thru with their unique music collection.

I ran across this show last night while searching POLLSTAR, I am interested in going but need to check the work schedule first.
The North Mississippi Allstars are coming to town on the 26th of this month which I am going to try and swing but I don't know about work once again.
Other shows of note..

Mar 11- Split Lip Rayfield (haven't listened to them but my brother told me to just go see the show)
Mar 31- Dirty Dozen Brass Band at Sheldon Concert Hall
April 1- Bela Fleck and the Flecktones at the Pagent
April 12- Chuck Berry at Blueberry Hill (I still have not seen him)

sounds good Jamie, count me in for at least one of the above shows.

Anybody else want to bite on Chuck Berry April 12th?

I plan on seeing Mike West with Truckstop Honeymoon at the Focal Point in Maplewood tomorrow night- Friday 1/27.  Tickets are cheap and it starts at 8.

Here is a little background bio from Mike West's website:

West lives in New Orleans, where he plays the French Quarter clubs from sunset to sun-up. But the skinny troubadour also shows up on stages in Holland, England and Australia. West gigs three hundred nights a year across three continents, performing at festivals, schools and bars from Chicago to Wagga Wagga. Exceptional song writing and musicianship have earned him accolades including The Big Easy Entertainment Award for "Best Country/Folk Artist" and several awards for "Best Album" and "Best Artist" from Off Beat Magazine.

snippets of songs like Melissa & Charango

Truckstop Honeymoon
There ain’t nothing nice about Truckstop Honeymoon. (they say)...They play banjos and wash tubs; sing about adultery and oil refineries. It’s breakneck breakdowns or heart-break waltzes. Like a Dodge with a burnt out clutch, their music has two speeds and no reverse. Katie Euliss learned guitar, piano and bucket bass in the streets of New Orleans. Then she met Mike West. Part entertainer, part snake oil salesman, Mike lived by pickin’ banjo and selling CDs that he claimed were a curative for hangovers and small mindedness. Together they began a perpetual tour of North America, Europe and Australia. They spent their wedding night in the Tiger Truck Stop, somewhere between Lafayette and the Atchafalya Swamp. Truckstop Honeymoon was born.
$10.

Chris what kind of place is Focal Point and what type of crowd does it attract?
I don't want to feel to out of place and based on the band's website I imagine I will be able to blend ok, just wondering about the Venue.
I went to the web site to get directions but it didn't really explain much as to what it is but it appears to NOT be a bar or club.
Have you ever been there before and are you planning on attending tomorrow?
If you plan on going I will send you my cell number and maybe we can meet up. I am off all day tomorrow along with all weekend so I am looking to have a good time!
