I am curious if there are any drives supporting SACD, as well as the ability to rip the songs.

SACD's native hirez output,DSD, is unrippable...copy protected very well, and the DSD output is proprietary.  Now, some SACD players output to PCM or do so through an option, but this still doesn't mean one will ever live as a pc-based drive.

I know of someone who's pulled hirez data off of SACD (presumably PCM cuz it ended up lower rez 24/48....) onto a DVD-Audio disc, but assume that is a major kludge-fest.

Funny how they are going to such great lengths to prevent ripping when it is our future and the most booming thing in Hi-Fi audio huh?

I have all the parts (and recipe_ to jimmy rig my pioneer universal to output 24/96 PCM from either DVDA or SACD via its coax digital output.  I haven't started the project yet because I got a few more important ones to do first.  It isn't a "kludge fest" but it isn't a trivial mod either.  Again, it does convert the DSD to hi-res PCM, the only reason it works at all.

Not going to be seeing this become available commercially however.

I would only be interested in a computer ripping that makes sure there are no errors. Jitter evil, and EAC can fight back.

sacd players disable digital outputs when playing sacd discs.  BTW, the whole 'point' of SACD is that it is the antithesis to higher bit formats.  I guess I don't quite get the point of converting.  SACD 'ripping' would be best done by simply sampling the output from a SACD player.  SACD should be simply considered a vinyl record, and used that way.

Ripping SACD to PCM?  why, just go get the cd version, or download it off allofmp3.com.

Uh I was thinking ripping it directly.... You know like the equivlant of a .wav file and maybe convert to a .flac.

With zero loss of data you will have improved sound.
