Bill,

I probably should have also mentioned something about the Unity Audio recording itself.

The quality seemed good, there was clarity and a low noise floor.  "Voices" (!) seemed to be real and well reproduced.  I would like to hear what their ribbon microphones might capture with a real acoustic bass.

I should also mention how much I enjoy the Internet age of often being able to audition samples of an album online.  I know you mentioned either yourself or Unity posting samples in the future.

And if I come across some online samplings of Josee's other recordings (haven't checked Amazon or the like yet), I will give them a listen.  I am not going to condemn an artist based on one album that, for me, had limited musical content.

HI Steve,
Again, I do appreciate the honesty. You took a chance on a recording you had no information or sampling of from an artist you have probably never heard or heard of before. This is why I find it only fair to offer the refund as mentioned.

Some liked it, some didn't. That's the way it goes. There are a lot of recordings out there that come highly recommended that I did not like at all. Hey, it's only a CD.

I am going to post some sample tracks on my site as time permits and will also post further comments, both positive and negative as I want potential buyers to know what others have found. This is the reasoning for desiring feedback.

Also, thanks for the follow-up. I appreciate the ability to find both the good and bad within a recording. Shows an open mind.

Thanks for sharing your impressions Steve!
I too agree that this cd - or any cd for that matter - isn't for everyone.  Most people who like this are also into ambiant/relaxation cd's.
Her other is disc is pop/jazz along the same lines as Norah Jones/Diana Krall.  Recording quality is quite good as well.
There's a copy in transit to Bill/Response for evaluation, and possible resale to the US market.
It's currently being sold in Canada by us, link is at http://www.marketworks.com/storefrontprofiles/DeluxeSFItemDetail.aspx?sfid=78796&c=286052&i=12959739

Just goes to show you need not spend a ton of $$ for quality cables.

After reading this comment, I can see how one my mistake my intentions. I am in no way saying that expensive cables cannot be very good values. There is defenitely something to be said about high quality cables and yes, some of these cables can be pricey. Afterall, I am using $700 power cords and won't look back in terms of what they are offering.

I was simply trying to state that affordable cables can still provide you with very good results.

Well I'm finally posting my impressions of the Josee Deschenes CD from Unity Audio.

I need to start off by clearing stating that while I love female jazz vocalists, Josee did nothing for me.  She has a tremendous voice, but there is just not much in the way of lyrics in these songs.

The recording itself was crystal clear, very deep bass on a couple of tracks and beautiful highs, but there seemed to be a lot of electronic processing of the music.  Personally, I would have preferred some acoustic music with a strong singer songwriter, but it's purely a matter of personal taste.

That's all folks.

Thanks NB for the honest feedback. Tis is what we need.

It seems everyone is on the same page. those who do like it, like it for the same reasons as well as those who do not like it.

I agree it is "electronic" but has served as a good reference for evaluating speaker designs. I am also a big fan of "acoustical" music and this CD is obviously in a different range. I personally find it a plasure to listen to while working in the shop. Dynamic yet soothing.

The next CD has much more vocal content. I am listening to a copy now and have made a decission to bringing this one in also.
